The Indonesia Anti-Doping Organization (IADO) just successfully organized the course of BCO (Blood Collection Officer) for 2 days on January 24th to 25th, 2024 at Century Hotel, Jakarta. The course was a very important activity due to the limited number of BCOs belonging to IADO. Such activity could not be participated by common person, because a BCO is a really profession, fulfilling medical competence and or a person whose daily activity constitutes an expert of active medical laboratory technology, who used to take blood sample collection, having license of formal practice and having valid certificate of Phlebotomy.

The course was officially opened by the Chairman of IADO Mr. Gatot S. Dewa Broto, accompanied by the Director of Testing Mrs. Linda Rosalina, and was followed by 10 BCOs of IADO, consisting of 7 experts of medical laboratory technology and 3 medical doctors. They got supervision, delivered by a BCO trainer from SEARADO Ms. Evelyn Tan. She provided series of lectures and practices on theoretical background and practices, requested to fulfil all of requirements to collect blood sample according to the World Anti-Doping Code and procedures of the existing international standard, including the introduction on Dried Blood Spot (DBS).

After getting presentation materials of blood sample collection (Venipuncture and DBS), sample deviation and transportation, and emergency action plan, they were compulsory to practice their competences. In addition, they got knowledge corresponding with the ethical matters how to communicate while serving their duties. Finally, they had to get a theory examination, in which they fortunately passed the exam and got certificates provided by IADO in cooperation with SEARADO. As a whole, the BCO Course was successful. By conducting that course, IADO wished the number of BCOs would increase and the competence of BCOs would also increase, because sample collection has not been focused on urine samples only, but also blood sample.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
