Almost every member country of the South East Regional Anti-Doping Organization (SEARADO) has a Testing team, so on April 23rd to 24th, 2025 SEARADO in cooperation with the Doping Control Agency of Thailand (DCAT) invited representatives from each country’s Testing team to attend the Train The Trainer Sample Collection Personnel (SCP) training in Bangkok. In this activity, SEARADO invited one of the IADO Testing staff, Dr. Giri Prayogo, M.Pd to participate in the training to become an SCP Trainer. The training was officially opened by Mr. Gobinathan Nair as the Director-General of SEARADO and was attended by 9 participants from countries that are members of SEARADO, namely Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Timor-Leste and Vietnam to be trained as SCP Trainers. Participants enthusiastically discussed solutions to problems and what modifications were made during the sample collection process. In the training, the trainer from SEARADO explained that this was adjusted to the procedures applicable to the International Standards for Testing and Investigation (ISTI).
Furthermore, sample collection training requires proper planning. Each country must focus on specific needs to make the training practical and effective. Trainers must act with confidence and integrity. In addition, Trainers are also required to have a good attitude to inspire, run programs, solve challenges and build better relationships so that participants can work together as a team. Trainers in Southeast Asia must work together and support each other. Sharing knowledge, ideas and methods to make everyone better at their jobs are very important. To keep their skills sharp, Trainers must regularly learn new techniques and stay updated with anti-doping information. In this way, they are required to maintain standards and can ensure integrity in anti-doping procedures. SEARADO congratulated all participants for their active participation during the course and wishes them the best as Sample Collection Personnel (SCP) trainers.
