According to regulation stipulated by WADA, athletes will receive a TUE certificate or letter from their ADO with details about their decision. If the TUE is granted, details about dosage, frequency, route of administration and duration will be provided. Should ant of conditions change, for example, change to dose, change in route of administration or duration, the athlete must inform the ADO that has approved the TUE. However, if a TUE is not granted, the ADO will explain why. The athlete can request to have the decision appealed. National-level athletes wanting to appeal the decision must apply to the relevant national appeal body in their country.
To anticipate the possibility that national-level athletes may at any time wish to appeal due to dissatisfaction with the TUE decision made by the TUE Committee, on July 28th, 2025 the IADO TUE Committee in cooperation with IADO Executive Board, held a virtual meeting with the University of Indonesia Sports Medicine Study Program. Several discussion topics were discussed together. However, one of the IADO TUE Committee’s wishes was the desire of the TUE Committee Chair to be assisted by the presence of specialist doctors who are expected to join the TUE Committee. These specialists are expected to be able to diagnose more detailed the type of illness suffered by athletes who submitted TUE applications. In addition, the presence of these specialist doctors could assist the TUE Committee during the appeal process, because at least the personnel would have to change, and their competence would prefer specialists.
