Jakarta, 12 July 2024
On the morning of July 12th, 2024, IADO had a very surprising special guest, none other than Mr. Lalu Muhammad Zohri, an Indonesian athletics athlete who successfully advanced to the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Purpose of Zohri’s arrival at IADO was to study through IADO staff Miss. Devi Sagita Ratri (IADO Education Directorate staff) regarding Anti-Doping through the Anti-Doping Education and Learning (ADEL) platform. His arrival was his own initiative so that Zohri would understand better through direct learning. The course obtained by Zohri is ADEL for Paris 2024 Olympics. Zohri’s arrival at IADO is a positive step for the advancement of Anti-Doping education. It is well known that Mr. Muhammad Zohri has been qualified to become Indonesia’s representative at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the men’s 100m athletics event, through the Universality Place allocation. This is the second time for Zohri to appear at the Olympics after Tokyo 2020.
The education provided aimed to provide understanding while Zohri is in Paris participating in the Olympics, namely to always remember the 11 anti-doping violations, be careful when using medication, kindly ask his doctor concerned or the contingent doctor if he is sick and needs medication, knowledge regarding the types of tests that can be taken in competitions (In-Competition Tests) and tests taken outside competitions (Out-of Competition Tests). In general, IADO always reminds all athletes to always be careful with medicines and supplements, and always to be reminded to consult their doctor if they want to use medicines and supplements, because if you just choose medicine without consulting a sports doctor or contingent doctor, there is a possibility that any unintentional doping violations will become increasingly likely.
Currently, there are 29 Athletes who have been qualified for the Olympics and have completed and received an ADEL for Paris 2024 Olympics certificate, including Zohri who directly came to IADO to study Anti-Doping education through ADEL. IADO asked Zohri to always be honest about the medicines and supplements he uses with the doctor and with the sample doping control officer.
