The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) said that it is committed to improving evidence-based doping prevention strategies through the Social Science Research Grant Program. As such, WADA has launched a Call for Proposals for the 2025 Social Science Research Grant Program. The Social Science Research Grant Program was created to ensure that preventive anti-doping education programs are designed using an evidence-based approach. Since the inception of the Program in 2005, 145 projects have been funded with over US$5 million awarded. WADA provides research grants to all types of organizations (such as universities, colleges, small businesses, non-profit and for-profit organizations).
The program has three different investment tiers available to applicants. Each tier is determined by the scale and scope of the research project, as described in the Social Science Research Grants Program 2025 – Overview and Guide for Applicants. The tiered system allows for more customized application requirements for projects versus a one-size-fits-all approach. Applicants’ primary research priorities should be in line with WADA’s established priorities, although it is possible to apply outside of these with clear and compelling reasons. The current SSR Research Priorities are as follows: ● Athlete pathway & experience ● Clean Sport behaviors ● Role and influence of athlete support personnel ● Experience of athlete support personnel in Clean Sport ● Effectiveness of anti-doping programs ● Anti-doping policy impact ● People investment ● Prevention model ● Evolution of sport practices ● Sport policy ● Non-sport influences ● Horizon scanning.
More information about this research priority can be found in the Overview & Guidance for Applicants on the following page: https://www.wada-ama.org/en/resources/social-science-research-grant-program-overview-and-guidance-applicants with the maximum research application can be uploaded on the page: https://grants.wada-ama.org/education/home?l=en no later than November 18, 2024 (12:00 noon GMT). In addition, to support potential applicants navigate the application process, WADA’s Education Team will host a webinar on October 2 at 08:00 EST (in English) on the following page: https://events.teams.microsoft.com/event/e1439f26-7291-4da7-9c14-bcc1758edb70@22a2e605-afdc-4195-820a-fa7e80b1f662 For further details, please visit the following page: https://www.wada-ama.org/en/news/wada-launches-call-proposals-2025-social-science-research-grant-program
