Penang, 23 October 2024
IADO in cooperation with 3 academic members from UGM (Gadjah Mada University), UNNES (State University of Semarang) and UNESA (State University of Surabaya) on October 22nd and 23rd, 2024 participated in the 2024 ADAMAS Anti-Doping Social Science Research Seminar (2024 ADAMAS SSR), organized in Penang, Malaysia. That activity was held by the Malaysian Ministry of Youth and Sports in collaboration with ADAMAS (Anti-Doping Agency of Malaysia), SEARADO (South East Asia Regional Anti-Doping Organization) and WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency). The aim of the social sciences research seminar on anti-doping, which was held for the first time in Southeast Asia and invited a variety of highly competent sources, was as follows: to increase awareness about how important research on anti-doping is; show stakeholders in the sports sector how research activities can have a positive influence in the preparation of anti-doping activity program planning; and identifying constructive and potential research collaborations involving NADO (National Anti-Doping Organization) and the academic community.
The seminar activities coincided with the slightly date line when WADA is currently waiting to receive proposals from all over the world to take advantage of the Social Sciences Research Grant Program. For that reason, WADA has launched a Call for Proposals for the 2025 Social Science Research Grant Program (WADA launches Call for Proposals for 2025 Social Science Research Grant Program). The Indonesian delegation who took part in the seminar has tried to put forward proposals and is expected to do so by November 18th, 2024. The proposals included: Exposure of the Anti-Doping Code and Play-True Principles to Students and Athletes and Their Environment Intervention Program in Students Sports Education and Training Center through Coaches, Teachers and Parents (A Collaboration Research among Indonesia, Thailand and Brunei Darussalam); The Impact of the Presenter of Education by Indonesia Anti-Doping Organization to Strengthen the Clean Sports in Indonesia: Knowledge, Compliance and Sustainability Study; The Extend of Level of Awareness of the Related Government in the Certain Countries of the South East Asia Region to the Essence of Anti-Doping Implementation to Avoid Any Possibility of Suspension by WADA: Comparative Study; and SportsRxRef Application Research Collaboration.
