Pontianak, 21 November 2024
Western Kalimantan and Gorontalo are the last two provinces to receive anti-doping socialization and education in 2024. Western Kalimantan Province presented its best athletes and coaches, such as athletes and coaches who competed during the 2024 Aceh – North Sumatra National Sports Games (PON) as well as several athletes who attended the National Training Center were also anxious to attend the anti-doping socialization and education activities, organized on November 21st, 2024. The aim of that activity was to provide awareness to athletes about the importance of understanding anti-doping and the consequences if they would be exposed to an anti-doping violation. The event was opened by an official representing the regional office of KONI (National Sports Committee of Indonesia) of Western Kalimantan Province Brigadier General Pol (Ret.) Andi Musa, SH., MH. as the Daily Chairman of the regional office of KONI of Western Kalimantan Province. He said that the anti-doping socialization and education activity was a very good opportunity for the attending athletes and coaches, not only as new knowledge for the participants, but it was also as a step to prevent the possibility of doping violations. That activity was supported by the Central KONI by providing material on Achievement Without Doping delivered by Marsma (Ret.) Mr. Irfan Bachtiar (Deputy Head of Sports Science, Central KONI), and then continued with a material session by Dra. Linda Rosalina, Apt., M.Sc. (IADO Testing Director), who delivered an Anti-Doping Overview and the final Anti-Doping Education session was delivered by Mrs. Dewi Putri Susanti, S.Si, M. Or. (IADO Education Staff) in coordination with 3 PRESIs (Presenter of Education) Dr. Suandi Selian, M.Pd., Mr. Rizki Hazazi Ali, S.Si., M.Pd., and Mr. Marhadi, S.Si., M.Pd.
Then there was something different about that activity, because there was also a representative from the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of Western Kalimantan Mr. Tri Tjahyono, S.Sos., M.Si., as the Head of General Division of the Western Kalimantan office of BNN. All participants were very enthusiastic and several interesting questions were raised during the question-and-answer session from the participants to the speakers. One of the questions was quite interesting from one of the Western Kalimantan athletes, asking: “What is the guarantee that the samples that have been taken and analyzed in the laboratory are safe without any possible manipulated results?” Then the speaker explained that the security and authenticity of the doping analysis results are guaranteed through a very strict management system and in accordance with international standards regulated by WADA, so that the possibility of samples being mixed up or manipulation of the analysis results of the samples is guaranteed to be non-existent because during analysis in the laboratory should show printed numbers only or sample code and do not mention the name of the athlete. In addition, the sampling process is carried out in accordance with SOP (Standard of Operating Procedure) complying with international standards: International Standards for Testing and Investigations (ISTI). Finally, the event was officially closed together by IADO officials, who were accompanied by the Central KONI, the regional office of KONI of Western Kalimantan and also the regional office of BNN of Western Kalimantan.
