The 2025 East Java Open Athletics Championship was held from May 9th to 11th, 2025, at the UNESA Athletics Stadium in Surabaya. The championship featured 20 events for male and female athletes across three age groups: U18, U20, and Senior. Given the importance of the championship, IADO participated in collecting sample, particularly for athletes who had broken national and even international records.
An athlete Mr. Brian Bagas Swara broke the national record for the U-20 men’s 110m hurdles. The hurdler from the Surabaya City Athletics Association (PASI) achieved a time of 13.99 seconds, outperforming two competitors from the Sport Training and Education Center for the Student (PPLP) of Central Java and the Banyuwangi Regency Athletics Association (PASI). As part of PASI’s commitment to comply with anti-doping regulation as per the MoU signed with the IADO on November 30th, 2022, and to ensure that the national record could be recognized by the International Athletics Federation (World Athletics), the athlete in question was collected by the DCO of the IADO. The sample was then sent to the WADA Accreditation Laboratory, the Anti-Doping Laboratory of the National Doping Control Center (NDCC) in Bangkok, Thailand.
