IADO once again demonstrated its commitment to maintaining the integrity of national sports through collaboration with the Indonesian Aquatics Association (PB Akuatik Indonesia) at the prestigious 2025 Indonesia Open Aquatic Championship (IOAC), held at the GBK Senayan Aquatic Swimming Pool in Jakarta from November 11th to 14th, 2025. As it is known, IADO and PB Akuatik Indonesia have long collaborated on various national and international championships, particularly in implementing anti-doping programs to ensure fair and doping-free competitions. The championship was a highly anticipated event for athletes and clubs from various countries. A total of 862 athletes from 183 clubs participated, striving to demonstrate their best performance and break their respective time records. The event also involved participants from various age groups, ranging from young athletes as young as 12 to senior athletes.
On the second day, IOAC 2925 recorded a special moment with the presence of the President of World Aquatics, Captain Husain Al-Musallam, at the GBK Aquatic Stadium. He came with a number of important Indonesian sports figures, including Mrs. Harlin E. Rahardjo (Daily Chair of PB Aquatic Indonesia), Mr. Raja Sapta Oktohari (President of NOC of Indonesia), Mr. Ali Patiwiri (Secretary General of PB AI), Mr. Wisnu Wardhana (WKU PB AI & Exco NOC), Mr. Akbar Nasution (Deputy Chair of Development PB AI & Exco NOC), and Mrs. Josephine Tampubolon (Exco NOC). The presence of these figures further emphasized the importance of this championship as one of the biggest aquatic events in the region.
At the 2025 IOAC, the IADO acted as the Testing Authority (TA), Sample Collection Authority (SCA), and Result Management Authority (RMA). To carry out this mandate, the IADO assigned two Doping Control Officers (DCOs) and a Chaperone. All monitoring and sampling processes were conducted in accordance with the International Standard for Testing and Investigation (ISTI) and World Aquatics procedures regarding athlete rights and obligations. IADO ensured that each process was carried out while maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and security of samples, as a commitment to the principles of fairness and sportsmanship in competition. Through its involvement in this championship, IADO hoped that no violations of the WADA Prohibited List 2025 would be found, and that athletes would gain a greater understanding of the importance of a doping-free sport.
This participation also formed part of the IADO’s efforts to improve the technical capacity and professionalism of Sample Collection Personnel (SCP) for future aquatics events and other international championships.
