On April 6th, 2026, IADO participated in a virtual international webinar titled “Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUE) and 2027 ISTUE Updates,” organized by the Olympic Council of Asia in collaboration with WADA. This activity was part of an effort to strengthen the capacity of medical personnel and anti-doping administrators ahead of various international sporting events in the Asian region. The webinar was attended by IADO representatives from various fields and also OCA’s representatives, including the IADO Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) Committee, sports medicine personnel, and the IADO educational presenter team. The TUE Committee members were: Dr. Arie Sutopo, Sp.KO (Head of the IADO TUE Committee), Dr. Mayorita Ponggawa, Sp.PD (Member of the IADO TUE Committee), Dr. Astri Indah, Sp.P (Member of the IADO TUE Committee), and Miss Weliza Agustina (Admin of the IADO TUE Committee). The IADO Education Presenters were Dr. Ferdinandus Adri Pradhana, Sp.KO, and Dr. Merryana Saputri, Sp.KO. Meanwhile, the Medical Indonesia Presenters were Dr. Grace Tumbelaka, Sp.KO, and Dr. Wahyuni Homan, Sp.KO (NOC Indonesia).

In that webinar, participants received a comprehensive presentation on TUE procedures, updates to the 2027 International Standard for Therapeutic Use Exemptions (ISTUE), and best practices in TUE submission and evaluation. Additionally, they discussed challenges frequently encountered in the TUE process and the critical role of medical personnel in ensuring compliance with international anti-doping regulations. Furthermore, collaboration with international organizations such as WADA and the OCA is key to strengthening the implementation of global standards at the national level. IADO’s participation in that activity affirms Indonesia’s commitment to supporting the implementation of global anti-doping standards and improving the quality of services to athletes, particularly in the aspect of medication use for medical purposes that remains in accordance with applicable regulations. Through this activity, it is hoped that all stakeholders will be better prepared to face the latest regulatory dynamics and be able to contribute to realizing clean, fair, and doping-free sports.
