As it already occurred in Medan last week, on the August 19th to 22nd, 2024 similar activities in the form of doping control training in the upcoming 2024 PON XXI in Aceh and Northern Sumatra, IADO organized a training in Banda Aceh in collaboration with the Provincial Health Office of Aceh. Those activities consisted of several trainings, including training for SCP (Sample Collection Personnel), anti-doping campaign promoters and investigators. That one could enable IADO in monitoring doping during the PON which will take place in the Aceh region. That activity in Banda Aceh was officially opened by the Head of the Provincial Health Office of Aceh Dr. Munawar, Sp. OG (K) on August 19th, 2024, accompanied by Chairman of IADO, Director of IADO Testing, Director of IADO Intelligence and Investigation and Head of the Disease Control and Eradication Division (Kabid P2P) of the Aceh Provincial Health Office Dr. Iman Nurrahman as Person in Charge of Doping in the Organization of XXI PON in the Province Aceh. That SCP training event has produced Chaperones and DCOs at the XXI PON in the Aceh region, where 62 participants participated in the Chaperone training, and 39 participants attended the DCO (Doping Control Officer) training, which generally consisted of health service employees, medical personnel, educators and sports in Aceh.
In addition, in parallel there was a promoter training for anti-doping campaigns or outreach which was attended by 5 participants, where they will be assigned at several anti-doping campaign locations in several sport venue in Aceh. That anti-doping campaign needed to be carried out as a form of anti-doping prevention in sports by increasing awareness and providing information to athletes and athlete support personnel during the XXI PON. Furthermore, an investigator training was also conducted which was attended by 7 participants. Those entire series of activities were solely intended as preparation for doping control as a form of IADO’s commitment to contributing to the success of the 2024 PON XXI in terms of doping control which of course is expected to be clean and doping-free.
