On April 14th, 2026, IADO held a TUE (Therapeutic Use Exemption) socialization for Medical Professionals at the IADO office. The purpose of that activity was to increase the understanding and capacity of ASPs (Athlete Support Personnel), particularly among Medical Professionals, regarding anti-doping, specifically regarding up dates to the implementation of the International Standard for TUE (ISTUE). That is important because the International Standard (as well as other SIs within WADA) is mandatory as part of the World Anti-Doping Program. The purpose of the ISTUE is to establish the conditions that must be met for a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) to be granted, allowing athletes to use Prohibited Substances under the 2023 version of the ISTUE, replacing the 2021 version.

The Medical Professionals present at the event were:

  1. Dr. Wahyuni Ristiyana Homan, Sp.KO.
  2. Dr. Grace Tumbelaka, Sp.KO.
  3. dr. Levina Azarine T, Sp. KO.
  4. dr. Fauzan Nanggagita, Sp.Ko.
  5. dr. Hans Christian Oeyono.
  6. dr. Monica Suryanto, Sp. KO.
  7. dr. Marco Ariono Nainggolan, Sp.KO.
  8. dr. Dicky Mohammad Sofwan, Sp. KO.
  9. dr. Nawato Agung, Sp. KO.
  10. dr. Adrian Purwadihardja, Sp. KO.

The speakers were: Dr. Arie Sutopo, Sp.KO (Chair of the IADO TUE Committee, who presented on IS-TUE regulations and TUE implementation), Dr. Hario Tilarso, Sp.KO (member of the IADO RM Committee, regarding the Prohibited List), Dr. Astri Indah Prameswari, Sp.PKR, FISR (member of the IADO TUE Committee, regarding Glucocorticoid Use and Respiratory Tract Diseases), and Dr. Mayorita Ponggawa, Sp.PD (member of the IADO TUE Committee, regarding TUE Medical Guidelines).

That was not the first time IADO had conducted TUE socialization, as it had previously been conducted repeatedly, but with different participant segments. In November 2023, IADO conducted it for the majority of KONIDA (Regional National Sport Committee of Indonesia) medical personnel from across Indonesia, and then again in the lead-up to the 2024 National Sports Games (PON) and National Paralympic Games (PEPARNAS). However, unfortunately, when the IADO conducted doping sample collection for the 2024 National Sports Games and subsequently obtained the analysis results from the Anti-Doping Laboratory in Bangkok, all athletes suspected of using prohibited substances failed to utilize the TUE application procedure, which is easily accessible from the IADO website.

For this reason, the IADO TUE Committee continues to intensively promote TUEs, with the goal of fostering a deeper understanding of TUE. Fortunately, the TUE socialization event on April 14th, 2026, was more dynamic, as the participating doctors generally already had a strong background in anti-doping, enabling the event’s objectives to be achieved to the fullest extent possible.
