Jakarta, 5 October 2026
Indonesia hosted one of the region’s major football events, the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026, which was held from September 24th to October 5th, 2026. The competition was organized across two divisions, with Division 1 taking place in Indonesia and Division 2 being held in Hong Kong. In Indonesia, Division 1 matches were held at two venues: the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta, and Si Jalak Harupat Stadium (SJH), Bandung. Division 1 featured eight teams, including six Southeast Asian countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam as well as two invited teams, Bangladesh and Pakistan. Meanwhile, Division 2, held in Hong Kong, featured teams from Hong Kong, China, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Timor-Leste.
As part of the tournament’s doping control operations, the Indonesian Anti-Doping Organization (IADO), through the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI), was officially invited to support the Doping Control Team and assist FIFA in the implementation of In-Competition Testing (ICT). To support the competition in Indonesia, IADO deployed four Doping Control Officers (DCOs), with two DCOs assigned to Jakarta and two DCOs assigned to Bandung. The doping control operations were also supported by Chaperones, consisting of health volunteers provided by the PSSI organizing committee.
Throughout the event, IADO DCOs carried out their duties in accordance with the International Standard for Testing and Investigations (ISTI) 2026. All doping control procedures were conducted with a strong focus on maintaining the integrity, security, and identity of samples while respecting the privacy and rights of athletes.
The involvement of IADO DCOs in the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 also provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen their professional experience and knowledge. During the competition, IADO DCOs benefited from knowledge sharing and professional exchange with FIFA DCOs, particularly regarding doping control procedures and standards applied in international competitions. IADO’s involvement in this major international sporting event represented an important milestone and recognition from FIFA and PSSI of the capability and professionalism of IADO DCOs in supporting doping control operations at international-level competitions. IADO hopes that the cooperation and coordination established with FIFA and PSSI will continue to grow and develop through future international sporting events, both in In-Competition Testing (ICT) and Out-of-Competition Testing (OOCT).
Through this involvement, IADO continues to demonstrate its commitment to promoting clean, fair, professional, and doping-free sport, while strengthening Indonesia’s contribution to the development of a strong clean sport culture at both national and international levels.
