IADO continued to hold an anti-doping education activity in a few provinces across the country, and it was just conducted in Pekanbaru, Riau on October 12th, 2022. For information, whole series of activities, which have been organized are as follows: these were in Jakarta on August 30th, in Bandung on September 2nd, in Surabaya on September 6th, in Semarang on September 9th, and in Samarinda on October 7th, 2022. After that, there will be 10 cities from 10 provinces which will be visited by IADO in cooperation with KONI to organize such educations to December 6th, 2022. Why these are only for 15 provinces, because these are based on the top 15 ranked provinces of the last 5 National Sports Games.
Education activity in Pekanbaru was organized in Zuri Hotel and attended by the Chairman of KONI of Riau Ir. H. Iskandar Hoesin MH, Chairman of IADO Gatot S. Dewa Broto and an official representing the Chairman of KON Col (Retired) Nazaruddin. Moreover, the education was attended by approximately 70 people consisting equally of athletes and coaches in addition to the medical team. Ideally, all of elite athletes and coaches could attend the education in Riau and other provinces. However, it is impossible, because there would be a very crowded gathering, and at the same time there would be lots of athletes doing their internal training activities. Furthermore, IADO wishes all of the information obtained by participants could be shared to other athletes and coaches, especially anti-doping information is available on the website of IADO.
During Q and A, there were few questions raised, among others: “This education activity is not beneficial, because what we need is the list of prohibited substances?” then IADO kindly responded, that list of prohibited substances is now available at the website of IADO in 2 languages: Indonesian and English. The following question mentioned: “Why does not IADO have an effort to deliver their samples to any certain domestic laboratory?” and the related-question was responded by IADO as follows: “It is impossible to be analyzed in Indonesia, even though the purpose is understandable on the basis of efficiency and to optimize domestic sources, there is however no WADA-accredited laboratory in Indonesia. As a result, those samples shall be delivered to any WADA – accredited laboratory in foreign countries such as in Bangkok and Doha.” IADO also explained that it is the time to spoil athletes and coaches in the term of clean sport to know more everything related to doping through various media of IADO. On the other side, IADO has a commitment to reform and repair its information content such as a wish not use to medical and scientific approach / language instead of more communicative and millennial content (if possible, it is also recommended to mention the name of product) or for example there is a suggestion to simplify content / material of World Anti-Doping Code, because the content is too formal even though these have been translated in Indonesian.
IADO also showed its appreciation to all athletes and coaches of the Province of Riau, because nobody indicated to use doping at the National Sports Games of 2021 in Papua. Such condition shall be maintained, although competition among provinces at the National Sports Games is getting harder. Furthermore, in the short coming days IADO will announce the result of doping control of the National Sports Games of 2021 in Papua and their decided consequences. It took a long time to arrive at the announcement, for it related to the Result Management (hearing and appeal session) in which IADO shall be prudent and comply with the World Anti-Doping Code.
