The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) announced a new ADEL material/course titled “ADEL for Paris 2024 Paralympic Games” which be very beneficial to be used by para-athletes, their guides for visually impaired athletes, and coaches who will participate in the Paris 2024 Paralympics on Anti-Doping Education and Learning (ADEL) platform.
The “ADEL for Paris 2024 Paralympic Games” course was developed by WADA in collaboration with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). WADA and IPC work together to educate and support para-athletes and coaches in preparation for the Paralympics. Those who learnt the course, which has been developed to meet the specific needs of Paralympic athletes, will gain an understanding of the Paris 2024 Paralympic anti-doping rules, procedures and requirements, including how to check medication and apply for a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE), how to provide Whereabouts information, and information on athletes’ rights and responsibilities during the testing process. The course also deepens the understanding of para-athletes, coaches and guides to identify important information, such as key dates and authorized organizations during the Olympic period.
WADA strongly encourages para-athletes and coaches to complete this course, which includes a certificate for those who achieve a score of 80% or higher. Currently the course is only available in English and French and has been adapted to ensure that visually impaired athletes can follow the course using a screen reader.
