The Jakarta Regional Office of Youth and Sports (Dispora Jakarta) on June 13th, 2024 invited IADO to be the speaker of the anti-doping socialization section. Participants were dominated by coaches, lecturers, students, and their masseurs who became the Athlete Support Personnel (ASP). The speaker of anti-doping socialization from IADO was dr. Eka Wulan Sari, MARS (Secretary General of IADO).
In her delivery, dr. Eka Wulan Sari said that the role of ASP is very important to support and remind about the dangers of doping, so that it is not just to remind them not to Use any kind of Doping, but ASP must also be able to provide understanding to Athletes regarding ban sanctions, exclusion, and also reminding athletes to always consult with the doctors if sick and need medicine. Consequently, doctors know the athlete’s situation and can suggest the best medicine for athletes in terms of safety and also athlete comfort.
In addition, IADO provided a pre-test and post-test for participants, which aimed to determine how far the participants’ awareness has increased. Initially, the knowledge of participants who were slightly low due to their average score of 71.43. However, after obtaining the subject of anti-doping, impacting to their knowledge raise to 76.83 so that IADO could developed for the next socialization, overall, there was an increase in participants awareness from pre-test to post-test.
Participants have also shown their enthusiastic and active responds in asking questions, in which one of the interesting questions was whether coffee is prohibited or not? Answering the question, dr. Eka Wulan Sari, MARS answered that the main content of coffee is caffeine which caffeine itself is a substance that is monitored by WADA, so drinking coffee should not be excessive and the normal level allowed in the body is 400mg, but because a person’s body metabolism is different, it is advisable to limit caffeine consumption.
