IADO in cooperation with Central KONI (National Sports Committee of Indonesia) carried out again an Anti-Doping Socialization and Education, which that time was held on October 30th, 2024 in Padang, Western Sumatra. The Anti-Doping Education and Socialization Seminar was carried out in collaboration with the KONI Offiice of Western Sumatra Province and it succeded. The event was officially opened by the Chairman of the KONI Office of Western Province Ir. Ronny Hero. On that occasion, IADO invited a representative from the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia Mr. Healthoper Akbar, SE., MM, who serves as Chair of the Management Team for the National Federation. Mr. Akbar as one of the speakers explained the government’s role in the field of doping is conducted by providing a budget for anti-doping activities such as educational activities, and financing related to the need for collecting and sending samples.

The Central KONI, represented by Dr. Mirza Hapsari Sakti Titis Penggalih, S.Gz.M.PH., RD as the Deputy Head of the Central KONI Sports Science Division, who explained how to win without doping. In fact, KONI has taken action against any National Federation (PB/PP) which has been imposed doping cases on three times successively at PON (National Sports Games), consequently the related National Federation would not be included in the following PON and their activities might be frozen. After that, the IADO team represented by Brigadier General (Ret.) Suharyanto from IADO, as director of Intelligence and Investigation, who explained the history of IADO’s founding as an anti-doping organization. The following discussion that was no less important and was the main topic of that activity was related to anti-doping educational material presented by educational staff Miss. Devi Sagita Ratri and personnel of PRESI (Education Presenters): Mr. Rizki Hazazi Ali and Mr. M. Labib Sienna Ar Rasyid, who explained related to 11 Anti-Doping violations, Strict Liability, and introduced the Whereabouts application and stages of Results Management.

Many questions arised and there were things that need to be clarified regarding the layman’s understanding of anti-doping. In essence, doping is NOT just consuming / using substances that can increase body performance, but there are other rules that must not be violated, and if violated would be included in doping, such as avoiding sample collection, using / attempting to use prohibited substances / methods, failing to inform their whereabouts via the Whereabouts application, tampering with any part of the doping control circuit, possessing prohibited substances, trading prohibited substances, providing prohibited substances / methods to athletes, being involved in attempted doping violations, associating with athlete or athlete support personnel who are subject to sanctions, as well as make threats against the party involved will report doping violations.

Accordingly, it can be concluded that what constitutes doping are 11 Anti-Doping Violations. The next question was, how to prevent doping? In response to that question, there are several tips that can be done, such as asking the doctor directly, reminding the doctor to check the contents of the drug to be consumed using the Prohibited List, saving the drug prescription issued by the doctor, saving the packaging and a small sample of the drug, and keeping a journal related to drugs and supplements what to consume in the current 7 days. What should also not be forgotten is that if an athlete has to use drugs that contain prohibited substances without any alternative drugs, the athlete’s doctor can help to apply for a TUE (Therapeutic Use Exemption).
