To support clean and fair sports, athletes could compete without resorting to doping to achieve victory. The Jakarta Provincial Student Sports Games (POPPROV) and Jakarta Provincial Sports Games (PORPROV) on August 4th to 8th, 2025, initiated by the Jakarta Youth and Sports Office (DISPORA) and the Jakarta National Sports Committee (KONI), had successfully synergized to achieve improved sporting achievements in Jakarta. One step towards this goal was the presence of an Education Presenter (PRESI) from IADO as an Anti-Doping Educator.
POPPROV and PORPROV were sporting events for young athletes, so anti-doping education was essential from an early age. It was hoped that these athletes would be educated on preventive measures and avoid doping use it in the future. Anti-Doping Education conducted by the PRESI of IADO took the theme of “Realizing Clean Sport in PORPROV and POPPROV DKI Jakarta: Educating Young Athletes in Doping Prevention” was successfully implemented on August 5th, 2025 at the Matraman Youth Center, East Jakarta targeted to the athletes of Pencak Silat, while on August 6th, 2025 it was held at the Bulungan Youth Center with the Badminton.
In this educational session, the IADO Education Directorate assigned Mr. Marhadi, S.Si., M.Pd., and Ir. Hadi Wihardja OLY, assisted by Mr. Rapawuli Eko Putro (IADO’s GA staff) to conduct the Anti-Doping Outreach program. The anti-doping education covered general knowledge, including the 11 Anti-Doping Rule Violations (ADRVs), the principle of absolute responsibility, not refusing a doping test, not purchasing medication at a shop or pharmacy without consulting a team doctor, and, importantly, the doping control process itself.
Participants were highly enthusiastic during the educational session, with several athletes and coaches asking questions about the educational material and their own experiences with taking medication when feeling unwell. Athletes were also encouraged to pay attention to nutrition and proper recovery without resorting to supplements. In this education, it was reminded that athletes must comply with the principle of absolute responsibility or strict liability, which means that athletes are fully responsible for what they have consumed, whether food, drinks, medicines or even supporting supplements.
The outreach program involved 102 participants, consisting of 53 from Pencak Silat and 49 from Badminton. The participants included athletes, coaches, and officials. Participants responded to questionnaires distributed to express their enjoyment and increased understanding of anti-doping. They expressed their gratitude for the education and expressed their readiness to practice clean sport, both during training and competition.
