2026 Asia/Oceania Intergovernmental Ministerial Meeting in Beijing

Beijing, 1 June 2026

On June 1st, 2026, the Chairman of of the Asia/Oceania Anti-Doping Agency (IADO) attended the “Asia/Oceania Intergovernmental Ministerial Meeting” held in Beijing. The event, organized by WADA in collaboration with CHINADA (China Anti-Doping Agency), was attended by representatives from 42 countries, most of whom were government representatives. In attendance were several Ministers, Vice Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and several NADO representatives and officials representing their respective governments. The event was officially opened by WADA President Mr. Withold Banka, accompanied by Mr. Tong Lixin, Vice Minister for Sports Administration of China.

At the conclusion of the meeting, participating government officials, ministers and anti-doping stakeholders adopted a resolution, which recognized the role of governments in funding and supporting their national anti-doping programs, and encouraged governments to work closely with their National and Regional Anti-Doping Organizations in implementing the 2027 Code and Standards. In his opening remarks, WADA President Witold Bańka thanked the General Administration of Sport of China and the China Anti-Doping Agency for their support in organizing the meeting, and highlighted how governments must continue to play a crucial role in upholding the values of clean sport in their respective countries.
