As part of the preparations for the Indonesian contingent’s participation in the 2026 Asian Games, scheduled to take place in Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya, Japan, from September 19th to October 4th, 2026, NOC of Indonesia invited IADO to a one-on-one meeting at the office of NOC of Indonesia on August 11th, 2026. This event was crucial, as it allowed representatives from various national sports federations to verify their administrative readiness prior to the contingent’s departure. NOC of Indonesia set up several desks for this purpose, one of which was dedicated to anti-doping matters. IADO attended with a full team, led by the IADO Chairman and accompanied by the Directors of Education and Testing, to ensure that all officials and athletes competing in the 2026 Asian Games fully met the administrative requirements regarding anti-doping regulations.
Generally, representatives from the sports federations visiting the anti-doping desk checked the completeness of digital ADEL (Anti-Doping eLearning Platform) documentation for their respective teams of athletes and officials. While many possessed complete and valid ADEL certificates, there were instances of expired certificates (given the two-year validity period) and data entry errors, such as classifying an athlete as “national” when they should have been designated as “international.” The 2026 Asian Games will mark the first time that ADEL compliance is being strictly enforced, following a decision made during the OCA Medical and Anti-Doping Committee meeting in Kuwait on June 28th, 2025. Although ADEL compliance had previously been mandated for the 2025 Asian Youth Games in Bahrain (October 2025) and the Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China (April 2026), some leniency had actually been permitted during those events. There is absolutely no room for leniency regarding the Asian Games in Japan; consequently, IADO has been coordinating with the Indonesian NOC well in advance to urge the entire Indonesian contingent to heed this requirement, thereby avoiding the risk of being denied entry to the Athletes’ Village and ultimately being unable to compete. August 15th, 2026, is the deadline for completing all ADEL requirements.
