International Anti-Doping Seminar in Asia and Oceania and Education Workshop

Tokyo, 13 December 2023

That international anti-doping seminar was held in Tokyo, Japan, on 12-13 December 2023, and was hosted by Japan Anti-Doping Agency (JADA) in collaboration with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and under the support of the Japan Sports Agency of the Government of Japan. The theme of the seminar was “#OnePlayTrueTeam because #iplaytrue: United Effort for a Clean Sport Environment. On the first day, the seminar was opened by the President of JADA, Prof Akama Takao, followed by the President of WADA, Mr. Witold Banka.

Afterwards, WADA Director General Olivier Niggli gave a presentation on global development and strategies for a clean sport movement: Bringing us together as #oneplaytrueteam, which conveyed the WADA Presidential leadership over the last 4 years, in particular the governance reform, the 2020 – 2024 Strategic Plan, and is in the process of updating the Code and International Standards. Olivier Niggli also outlined WADA’s current priorities: education, scientific research, I&I, legal affairs, compliance monitoring and program development, NADO/RADO relations, and funding. The seminar also explained the upcoming preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, particularly in the area of pre-Games education, which will be provided by JADA and ITA.

On the second day, the Follow-Up Workshop #OnePlayTrueTeam as #iplaytrue was held for the participants of the Education Symposium activities in Singapore, where the Director of Education was nominated by SEARADO to represent IADO and hosted by JADA. On that occasion, the Director of Education gave a presentation on what the Directorate of Education had done after attending the Symposium, which was attended by other participants.
