The 2026 Asian Boxing U19 & U23 Championships was organized from July 5th to July 16th, 2026, at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Basketball Hall in Senayan, Jakarta. The event stood as one of Asia’s most prestigious age-group boxing tournaments, bringing together hundreds of the best young boxers from various nations. A total of 328 athletes from 23 countries participated, competing across 40 event categories. Throughout the tournament, nearly 300 competitive bouts were held. The event also marked a significant milestone for Indonesia, serving as the host for an international boxing championship after a hiatus of several decades.
The championship was officially opened by the Minister of Youth and Sports Mr. Erick Thohir. In his remarks, the Minister stated that hosting the 2026 Asian Boxing U19 & U23 Championships demonstrates the growing international confidence in Indonesia’s ability to organize world-class sporting events. Beyond the competition itself, the championship provided a platform for young athletes to learn from one another, exchange experiences, and elevate the quality of boxing across Asia. The event was expected to serve as a strategic step toward developing a generation of young boxers capable of achieving success on the global stage, including at the Olympic Games.
For this championship, IADO participated as the Sample Collection Authority (SCA), collaborating with World Boxing and the Indonesian Boxing Association (PERBATI) to implement the doping testing program. The entire sample collection process was conducted in accordance with the International Standard for Testing and Investigations (ISTI). Through its role as the Sample Collection Authority (SCA), IADO reaffirmed its commitment to supporting sports competitions characterized by cleanliness, fairness, and integrity. This participation also served as a tangible demonstration of IADO’s support for upholding “clean sport” values in international sports championships held in Indonesia.
