Indonesia Anti-Doping Organization (IADO) was once again trusted to participate for sending doping control officers to the Maybank Marathon 2023 event, at Bali Safari Marine Park, Gianyar, Bali. That event was organized on August 27th, 2023.
Maybank Marathon 2023 was officially opened by the Governor of Bali Province, represented by the Head of the Bali Provincial Youth and Sports Office and the Chairman of KONI Bali. The enthusiasm to welcome that annual marathon event was very high reaching 2 times more than last year, which was around 13,000 participants followed not only by Indonesia, but also by foreign citizens from all parts of the world. As the only marathon event in Indonesia recognized as World Athletics-Labelled Road Race, Maybank Marathon 2023 offered more than one marathon category, namely Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K Marathon, Wheel Chair Race, to Children Sprint.
In collaboration with World Athletics – Athletics Integrity Unity (AIU), and PASI (Athletics Federation of Indonesia), IADO as Sample Collection Authority (SCA) deployed several DCOs and Chaperones to conduct a doping control in the environment of the annual marathon event. The entire doping control process was conducted smoothly and successfully enabling sample collection could be handled according to the criteria set by World Athletics – AIU.
